The RFL Regional Team has praised the North West Counties leagues after meeting their officials to plan for the future and further develop the working relationship ensuring all the clubs in the region continue to benefit and improve.
Chris Thair, North West Regional Development Manager said: “We have enjoyed a good working relationship with all four regional playing leagues in the North West Counties area for a number of years.
“Many ideas coming out of the discussion will shape our planning and I’m delighted with the results of the meeting, numbers for the forthcoming season are again up across the whole sector and standards continue to rise, whilst the services being provided are improving.”
There have been a number of improvements in the club sector with increases in teams playing, match officials available for matches, Clubmark clubs, fulltime staff supporting clubs and improving coaching standards, links to schools and standard of club facilities to name a few.
Thair added: “The North West Counties officials are an extremely dedicated group of people and like many other volunteers in the game juggle their work, family and Rugby League commitments with a great deal of enthusiasm and commitment.
“They take countless e mails and phone calls from their member clubs, attend meetings and matches, run websites, playing leagues, cups, finals days and presentation nights plus much more and some still have time to help out with their local club.
“Like so many volunteers in Rugby League they are quite amazing people.
“The North West Counties playing leagues and all their member clubs should be extremely proud of their achievements in recent years and what they contribute to the sport of Rugby League.
Sam Armstrong North West Counties Under 13s-15s Secretary, said: ”On behalf of North West Counties we are delighted to continue to have such a good, close working relationship with our RFL regional office and it's personnel who are always ready to assist and support.
“This relationship and networking not only benefits our clubs, players and volunteers but also us as a League and the RFL too as we all continue hand in hand to promote pro-active involvement.”
