Under 12's Cups - an introduction

Under 12's is the only age group within the North West Counties 8-12's ARL that are permitted to take part in competitive Rugby League. The league fixtures are all deemed to be friendlies with no league tables produced. However, teams at U12 level may compete in knock-out competitions e.g. Lancashire Cup, National Cup etc.

At this time the U12's no longer compete in a National Cup but do have a Lancashire Cup organised by the British Amateur Rugby League Association and an internal North West Counties Cup Competition.

Tradionally the Lancashire Cup is played is the first part of the season, i.e. in the months leading up to Christmas, with the final just after the Christmas break.

The North West Counties Cup was inaugorated in 2002 and is divided into four competitions. Traditionally the Under 12's have been seeded into two divisions. The A league compete for the Main Cup and the B league compete for the Development Cup. Draws are made at the NWC 8-12's meetings on the 1st Tuesday of each month with games played following Sunday. The first draw is made at the January meeting. At the February meeting all the losing teams areentered into their respective Plate competitions. Games are played on a knock out basis leading up to four finals usually held in May. Back to top
